Have you ever wondered about what it’s like to live in the heart of New York City? I can only speak from my perspective about my favorite things, but I’ll be adding in the discoveries shared by my out of town students. I invite other New Yorkers from our community to add their favorites so that our guests from out of town who come here either for seminars, for Group or for Practitioner Skills development, can get some ideas about what they can do after class is over each day.

Ode To Summer- Central Park In July

Just as the summer is ending and our glorious sunshine filled days are dwindling for now, I’d like to share with you the results of two enchanted walks in my favorite Central Park. www.centralparknyc.org.

The pictures start with scenes of lovely houses landscaped with flowers on the Upper East Side on my walk towards the Park.

Once in the park, we proceed on the Park Drive East, viewing 5th Avenue (also called Museum Mile in this neighborhood) and along the Bridle Path, next to the Reservoir. The non-residential buildings in the pictures are of course the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Guggenheim  Museum , www.guggenheim.org, The Cooper-Hewwit National Design Museum www.cooperhewitt.org, and the Jewish Museum www.thejewishmuseum.org.

In this series of pictures the emphasis is also on the fabulous bridges that are especially found on the bridle path that encircles the reservoir. You can tell which one is my very favorite as I have several shots of it, including one where the tree near it mimics the shape of the art nouveau bridge itself.

After the Bridges and around the Bridle path, the views continue from West Side buildings, back to the path down the East Side to the Storytelling corners and the toy boat lake.

Then we’re on to pictures of the East Side buildings.

Lastly there are shots from other days of the lake from the perspective of being on the West Side, looking towards the East.

I hope that you enjoy the slide show as much as I did sharing my views.

More New York City Nightlife- More Jazz

In the past I’ve practically waxed poetic about Dizzie’s, raved about Mose at Jazz Standard. But I’ve never told you about the small, intimate musical conversations that fine artists have at the Kitano Hotel’s Lounge.

It is the one venue that feels like the artists are in your own living room because you are in such close proximity to them. The audience is advised that the house has a policy of total silence in the audience during the performance.

Last weekend my friends and I went to see Peter Washington, on double bass, Lewis Nash on drums and George Cables on the piano performing for the first time together as a trio.

The joy and expressiveness of the interplay between the three of them was so outstanding that we went back for another set the next night.

One of the members of Saturday night’s audience wrote a great article Really Listening To Each Other on his blog http://www.levinecounseling.com/jefflevineblog/. Jeff’s review of the performance from the perspective of what is makes excellent communication in all aspects of life, is really worth reading.

Here is a picture of Lewis Nash taken from Jeff’s blog post. Pictures of another trio performing at the Kitano, individual pictures of Peter Washington and George Cables, were taken from various googled sites.

How I Nurture Myself and My Practice in NYC

It happens every year.

Every year I look forward to the precious few days, sometime a week, or if we are really lucky, two weeks sometime in June when all of the Linden trees have their blossoms in bloom.

Imagine our wonderful city infused with the heavenly, unique scent of Linden flowers.

Linden trees, along with the lovely Ginkgo trees, are the hardy, steadfast trees that most line our sidewalks in Manhattan.

Since Sunday the scent has been so strong that I have felt completely enraptured in several spots on my Central Park walks.

Here is a picture I took with my cell phone of the lovely Linden blossom.

The Linden Blossom

Another very powerful source of nurturance that fills my heart is participating in Virtual Retreats with Mark Silver, www.heartofbusiness.com. On Thursday I will participate in my third one with Mark since November 2010.

Since the first week in May I have been extremely blessed to have participated in his Heart of Money Transformational Journey.  Tomorrow’s retreat will help me to integrate some of the profound changes I have experienced within myself as a result of the internal work I continue to do based on this course.

Although I would love to share with you some of my learnings, it is too soon for me to do so. Keep tuning in to the blog because as soon as I am able, Mark has given us all permission to share what we each have learned from our experiences together and I would love to share what I have learned with you.

Finally, there’s a new entry that I made on the Sharing Successes! page this week. Take a look if you get a chance and remember to keep adding your own successes.

Thank you all for your continued support.

I send you much love,
