Here is the latest question sent in by Joie Jacobsen.
“I was just in session and for the first time the spirit-level need that came up for the earlier experience was #20. Longing for the Divine. My understanding is that all spirit-level needs are components of a fully expressed spirit and the lack of any of these needs leads to feelings of hopelessness and resignation. I’m confused, and so was my client. How can longing – defined as “a strong, persistent desire or craving, especially for something unattainable or distant”, be an enhancement of spirit? I muscle checked if it was appropriate for us to modify it to “Connection to the Divine” and got an “ON” response. I’d love to hear your opinion and feelings about this.”
I am not a theologian but this is one way I have viewed this confusing need
If a person did not on some level yearn for reunification with God, and have the quest to be “home’ in God’s presence, they could not be fully expressed humans.
If they did not have this desire to know and experience the Divine they could lapse into hopelessness and resignation.
It seems to me that this is one of our most human spirit-level needs and it is based on the illusion that we are separate from God.
As long as we experience separation from each other and God, we yearn for the reality of the Oneness.
I’m also wondering what other people think about this so please, if you have any thoughts about this, please post them as a comment.
